Blocks are the building elements inside the SellStack Layout Engine. They hold and display content, products, or other interactive elements on storefront presentation pages. Administrators can add, configure, move, duplicate, or remove Blocks within Layout Zones.
Block Types in SellStack
Each Block is created from a Block Type, which determines its default configuration, features, and behaviour.
- Product Display Blocks – e.g., Featured Products, Dynamic Product Grid, Carousel
- Marketing Content Blocks – e.g., Image Banner, HTML/Text, Video Embed
- Informational Blocks – e.g., Compliance Notices, Store Hours, Location Maps
- Container Blocks – layouts for holding other Blocks in a structured format (e.g., two-column, three-column)
ERP Awareness
- Product data in Product Blocks is sourced from 365 Cannabis ERP for core information (SKU, name, compliance, base pricing, inventory)
- SellStack enriches product presentation with images, extended descriptions, and marketing copy
- Changing product display in a Block affects storefront presentation only — it does not change ERP data
Adding a Block
- Open the desired Layout in the Block Manager
- Select the Zone where the Block will be placed
- Click Add Block and choose the appropriate Block Type from the list
- Configure the Block Parameters as needed
- Save the Layout
Configuring Block Parameters
Block Parameters control what content is shown and how it is displayed. Available parameters vary by Block Type.
- Product source – manual selection, dynamic query, or ERP category link
- Number of items – set a fixed count or allow dynamic loading
- Sorting – newest first, best sellers, alphabetical, ERP attribute-driven
- Display style – grid, carousel, stacked list
- Additional options – promotional badge, stock level display, call-to-action buttons
Working with Product Menus
A Product Menu can be built entirely from Blocks, or by combining product Blocks with marketing content Blocks. This gives administrators full control over how products are grouped, themed, and promoted.
- Use multiple Zones for different product groups (e.g., Edibles, Vapes, Accessories)
- Mix dynamic product queries with static, hand-picked features
- Include promotional or seasonal banners alongside product listings
Moving and Duplicating Blocks
- Open the Layout in the Block Manager
- Drag the Block to a different position within the same Zone or into another Zone
- To duplicate, use the Duplicate option from the Block menu — the duplicate will appear in the same Zone by default
Removing Blocks
- Open the Layout in the Block Manager
- Select the Block you want to remove
- Click Remove and confirm deletion
Best Practices
- Plan Zones to group related Blocks together logically
- Limit the number of Blocks in high-traffic pages to optimise performance
- Use Shared Layouts for Blocks you will reuse across multiple pages
- Test changes in a staging environment before publishing to the live storefront
