Selecting a Product Lot in SellStack 365 Cannabis Print

What is a Product Lot?

Product Lots are tracked inventory units in Business Central 365 Cannabis. SellStack syncs those Lots as inventory segments tied to a Product, carrying data such as packaging date, THC/CBD content, expiry, and other Lot Attributes. Each Lot must have valid stock and be available in an enabled location to be eligible for customer-facing selection or automated allocation.

How Lot Selection Works

Customers may either manually select from available Lots, or the platform may automatically assign one during checkout using the Automated FIFO/FEFO strategy:

  • FIFO: First In, First Out
  • FEFO: First Expired, First Out

Lot selection is controlled per product. If the feature is enabled, customers will see one or more Lots during product selection and will choose from that list before adding the item to their cart. If not enabled, SellStack will assign the most suitable Lot automatically at the time of checkout.

When Customers Will Not See Lots

Lot visibility is disabled by default. Customers will not see individual Lots if:

  • The product is not configured for Lot-level selection in the Admin
  • The Lots are out of stock or unassigned to the storefront’s active inventory channel
  • The product has no associated Lots (e.g., it is sold as general inventory)

How Automatic Lot Assignment Works

When manual selection is not allowed, SellStack will apply Automated FIFO/FEFO at checkout. This ensures that the most appropriate Lot — based on configured strategy and availability — is assigned to the order. Customers will not see or influence this process.

What Customers See (If Enabled)

If Lot visibility is enabled, the storefront will present a dropdown or Lot selector alongside the product. Each Lot will list its visible attributes — such as batch number, packaging date, THC content, and expiry — allowing customers to make an informed selection before purchase.

Configuration Notes (Admin)

  • Lot selection is enabled per product in the Admin panel
  • Lot visibility is optional and can be channel-specific
  • Lot-level pricing overrides product pricing when defined
  • All Lots must exist in a permitted location and have sellable inventory

Admins should test Lot visibility changes using a linked Customer account or a staging storefront before applying globally.
